Chilly but Cheery – Public Market Merchants in the Holiday Parade

2013 marked the first year that the Santa Barbara Public Market participated in one of the city’s finest traditions, the Downtown Holiday Parade. Public Market merchants took their place among the spirited contingent of marching bands, holiday floats and local personalities ringing in good cheer of the season.

Some of the coldest temps in recent memory made for a super-bundled crowd of the 50,000 spectators. And our merchants braved the cool air with grace. On hand were Diane from The Pasta Shoppe, Kristen of Flagstone Pantry, Dan from Green Star Coffee and Rosell from Crazy Good Bread, who brought her two sweet children in tow.

In addition to steaming cups of coffee and cocoa, our merchants stayed warm with a fair amount of running to keep up with the pace of the parade. And we tended our colorful Sea Horse mascot with care, keeping the tall balloon inflated throughout the route.

We’re excited for next year’s parade, when the Santa Barbara Public Market will have been opened and we’ll have a full complement of merchants to welcome in the season.
