Art & food go hand in hand! People have undeniable sensory connections to food – from its taste, to its form, to colors and textures. To celebrate, the Santa Barbara Public Market is hosting “The Art of Food,” August 13 – 16. Visit the Public Market and explore art, food and culture with local experts in the Santa Barbara community, who will offer inspiration, instruction, and a creative way to experience the Santa Barbara Public Market! See below for the creative lineup of Art of Food events the Public Market has in store for the community

Beginning on Monday, August 10, the Public Market will debut a commissioned photography exhibit by renowned local photographer, Kim Reierson, featuring the stars of the Public Market… the merchants! Come tour the market and admire the photographs capturing the merchants, and the art of their craft.

Thursday August 13 from 5:30 to 7:30pm, join The Painted Cabernet in The Kitchen for “Sip & Paint with The Painted Cabernet” where guests can enjoy creating artwork while visiting with friends + sipping on wine! Tickets are $45. Click here for details and call 805-963-9979 to reserve!

Friday August 14 from 6-8pm join Fukiko Miyazaki of Studio Nihon in The Kitchen for “The Art of Making Sushi.” Guests will learn how to roll their own sushi + plate the pieces in their own unique ways! Tickets are $45. Click here for details and call 805-770-7702 to reserve!

Saturday August 15 from 10am-12pm, Knit Fit will host interactive arts & crafts for kids in The Kitchen, where children can learn how to make creative flower origami and can receive $5 glitter tattoos!

Sunday August 16 from 12-2pm, professional photographer Chuck Place will host “Lunch & Learn” in The Kitchen! During this food photography class and lunch, guests will learn tips + tricks to capturing the perfect shots of food from an expert photographer and enjoy delicious salads from Flagstone Pantry as well as a complimentary champagne flute!
