Every month, Stephen Goularte, (General Manager, Sommelier & Chef) and Emily Johnston, (Wine Buyer, Advanced Sommelier) are sharing an extra special wine and beer that has caught their eye.
Emily’s Pick: Federico Curtaz, Nero D’Avola, Sicily, 2015
Nero D’Avola is a common variety from Sicily, however, this is a sophisticated version of something that is usually so quaffable. This small production wine brings an impeccable sophistication to the grape. Blackberries, sagebrush, violets, medium bodied. Amazing paired with grilled meats. $36.99
Stephen’s Pick: Kettle Cooler, Alvarado Street Brewery
The perfect summer refresher. Yes, it’s a sour. But, if you find sours too mouth puckering and pungent, you need to try this. It’s more fruit-driven and crisp with citrus and pineapple. Modeled after the classic Cactus Cooler, it will bring out the child inside of you. This is my go-to beer for gardening. Limited availability from Salinas, CA. $3.99 each
