Dec. 3 – Secrets of a Tamale Chef: A One Hour Class for Home Cooks, 6:30pm

Get ready for the holidays! This entertaining, interactive class shows how to make tamales you’ll love to eat and serve. Richard Lambert, owner-chef of Santa Barbara Tamales-To-Go, teaches the techniques he uses to make his firm’s award-winning tamales and salsas. Attendees are served a variety of tamales during the class as they are shown how each tamale can be created at home. Handout materials include recipes from the instructor’s cookbook, a listing of ingredient & equipment sources, and tamale reheating and storage guidelines. The class is limited to 40 participants. Dec. 4 – 1st Thursday: Make Smith Leather Co., Santa Monica Seafood and Telegraph Brewing Company, 5:00-8:00pm

Make Smith Leather Co. is a family-owned and operated business run by Steven Soria, a third generation leather craftsman. It was started as a custom workshop, inspired both by Steven’s education and experience in the fine arts and by his family’s artisan traditions, with a focus on handmade one-of-a-kind leather goods. The workshop has since expanded to include private label manufacturing and a Make Smith brand product line, which aims to make handmade craftsmanship available to retail customers. Santa Monica Seafood will be the featured public market food purveyor. Telegraph Brewing Company will provide craft beer tastings. This event is FREE and open to the public.

Dec. 6 – SBPM Holiday Festival, 10:00am-5:00pm

Celebrate the season at the Santa Barbara Public Market Holiday Festival on Saturday, December 6th from 10:00am to 5:00pm. This is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of more than $100 in savings from the market merchants and to stock up on local holiday gifts for family and friends! FREE Photos with Santa will take place in The Kitchen from 10:30am to 1:30pm. Bring the kids and your own camera to snap a keepsake photo with the man in the red suit! The event will also feature food sampling, cookie decorating (while supplies last), live entertainment and more! This event is FREE and open to the public.

Dec. 6 – Champagne Tasting, 4:30pm-9:00pm

Join us for a Champagne Tasting hosted by Wine + Beer on Saturday, December 6th in The Kitchen!

Upon arrival guests will receive their Champagne Passport, and have the chance to taste 11 distinctive Champagnes! Champagnes featured include Dom Perignon, Billecart-Salmon, Krug and Ruinart just to name a few… Guests will also enjoy food tastings by Public Market merchants that pair perfectly with Champagne, including oysters, caviar, duck confit and more. Two tasting times offered:

1st Session – 4:30pm to 6:30pm
2nd Session – 7:00pm to 9:00pm
